  The Agricultural Research and Education Centre (AREC) Raumberg-Gumpenstein is located in the centre of Austria, in the Styrian Enns-Valley. The current form of the institution has been developed in the course of conflation of the High School for Agriculture in Raumberg with the Federal Institute for Agriculture in Alpine Regions in the year 2005 .

As the largest department of the Life Ministry in the agricultural research the AREC is the driving force for sustainable management in the agrarian, nourishment- and environmental range of the rural area.

Developed by the fusion of school and research our institution is the centre for agriculture and rural area in Austria - also with an own institute for organic farming - with a staff of about 300 employees working at the different locations Raumberg and Gumpenstein in Irdning, Moarhof in Puergg-Trautenfels, Wels, Lambach, Piber and Winklhof.{mosimage}

As to the teaching we offer the graduation with a higher school certificate with the general qualification for university entrance after the five yearlong training or a course of instructions for only three years for those who have already successfully finished a specialized technical college for agriculture before. Thematic priority is given to agrarmarketing and agrarmanagement. Besides the AREC is in cooperation with the educational institute and vocational college in Aigen/Ennstal, which offers the vocational school leaving examination and there is the possibility to attend a master training for agriculture and forestry offered in cooperation with the federal vocational trainings-office for agriculture and forestry in Graz.
In the college our students are offered the best preparation for their working life, guaranteed by optimally qualified pedagogues.
Trend-setting and innovative focal points of research, that are relevant for practice, originate from Raumberg-Gumpenstein and are predominantly worked on in cooperation with national and international organisations (focal points of research in Raumberg-Gumpenstein (pdf-Dokument, 458.30 Kb)). Particular emphasis lies on the quick and efficient conversion of the gained knowledge together with our target groups (science, politicians, consultants, pedagogues, companies and especially farmers) via lectures, conferences, field days, a huge number of different publications, congresses, this webpage and also via counselling of individual enterprises.
Let us convince you of our achievementes (pdf-Dokument, 1.07 Mb) by our documentation of research activities, which show all scientific publicly efficient implementations. Please have a look at our projects with the summary of the appendant publications at the end of the description, our download area and the pages of our scientific employees, who offer you the download of their publications and speeches.
We are keeping you up to date regarding our current meetings, publications and projects by means of our newsletter.
