Our institute deals with the scientific
and systematic development of
grassland management which has
a strong impact on cultural landscape.
Basic research objectives of the institute:
- Interdisciplinary research on grassland management by means of exact laboratory- and field experiments and case studies
- Determination of nutrient fluxes within the plant-soil-environment system
- Implemenation of geographical information systems in the field of agricultural research
- Development of forage harvest methods and forage conservation systems
- Impact of different management systems on floristic diversity of grassland
- Use of different lysimeters to determine the plant-soil-water interactions
- Breeding, cultivation and propagation of grasses and legumes for seed mixtures for grassland and restoration activities
- Development, adaptation and evaluation of the Austrian agri-environmental programme
