The quality of the own economics basic fodder plays a central role regarding an ecologically oriented production of milk and meat. Basic condition for it grassland existence with closed grass scar and an efficient plant existence with a high portion of fodder-structurally high-quality grass and kinds of clover.

By different abiotic (above all dryness, freezeness) and bio tables (diseases, animal parasits) causes as well as errors in that management (trace and footstep damage, deep-cut, fertilizer distribution and so on) exhibit today many grassland surfaces a high gap portion as well as unsatisfactory plant existence. To obtain with the help of the grassland renewal already for some years tries an improvement, however here a view points to the practice that there are still numerous open questions to this topic. In the context of this research project therefore the priorited problems are to be worked on and supplied to a solution. Two comprehensive field tests (locations Gumpenstein and Piber) at those are planned the following aspects to be examined:
Effect of of the natural "Versamung" as alternative to the technical grassland renewal (inclusive a variation of the "Versamungsrythmus" (every two or five years) - this aspect is to be examined only under a three-cut regime
Efficiency of the "Nachsaat" including the subfactores technology (over seed and slot twisting technology), seeds mixture (on three-cut average - NA with clover, NA without clover; on four-cut average - NI with clover, NI without clover as well as combat mixture) as well as "Nachsaatrhythmus" (every two or five years)
For the examination of the measure efficiency a detailed plant inventory admission is to take place annually and to the individual buildups a collection of "projektiven" covering as well as the relationship of group of kinds regarding the development of the plant existence in the spring. Apart from yield-relevant parameters the individual variants are tested also regarding the fodder quality.
The plant of the field tests is to take place on appropriate practice surfaces, further management measures in particular the fertilization takes place without further variation in coordination with the location-usual and operatingspecific conditions.
The subject treated in this project fits thematically very well in with the EGF (European grass country Federation) furnished working group (grass country resowing), in which the project manager leads the sub-group "Central Europe". Thus only an interface with the international grassland science is not given, but also an appropriate spreading of the results on international level ensures.
